Zahra Azimi received her Master’s degree in Architectural Technology Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University in September 2022, following her Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in September 2019. In December 2020, she joined the IDEAS3 Lab to do research on the impacts of urban geometry design on urban microclimates. Zahra utilized numerical simulations across multiple scales of urban areas. Her model applications include mitigating urban heat islands with vegetation and reflective surfaces, and assessing microclimate effects on pedestrian thermal comfort. For her Master’s Thesis, she worked on the impact of courtyards as passive cooling/heating strategies to improve thermal comfort in low-energy housing design. Since 2021, she has been actively working in this field. In her free time, Zahra enjoys swimming, learning new skills, and playing the piano.
